Stay in the middle
Our apartments are central – no car, short distances, more time for the city. With DIRECT7 you save 7% on direct bookings.
Day 1 – old town and UNESCO heritage
Start at Maximiliansplatz (Maxplatz) and stroll along Lange Straße to the Old Town Hall on the bridge – the city's most photographed view. Continue to Little Venice with the former fishermen's houses by the water, then up to the cathedral square with Bamberg Cathedral, the Bamberg Horseman and the imperial tombs. Next door, the Old Court and the rose garden of the New Residence tempt with views over the rooftops.
In the evening, head for Sandstraße – the historic brewery and pub street with Schlenkerla and its famous Rauchbier. From our apartments on Luitpoldstraße 16, the old town – Old Town Hall, Little Venice and the cathedral – is just a few minutes' walk away.
Day 2 – beer cellars, Michelsberg and market
Begin Sunday gently with breakfast at Café Müller on Maxplatz or homemade in your holiday apartment. Then the climb to Michelsberg with the former monastery of St Michael and views over the entire old town is worth it. If you like, stop at Spezial-Keller on Stephansberg – one of the finest beer gardens in town.
To finish, stroll through the Grüner Markt with regional produce – ideal for packing a few Franconian treats before heading back to the ICE.
Where to stay for the weekend?
For the shortest distances we recommend the apartments on Luitpoldstraße 16 – central and just a few minutes' walk to Maxplatz.
